Help Raise £50,000 For a Sponsored Skydive. In Memory of Birkdale lady, Catherine Gokcen. All Proceeds Going to The Larks Cancer Charity (Part of the Marina Dalglish Appeal)

Ian and Sally at Cafe Bar N’Ista are going to match EVERY £1.50 donated at the bar, to your bill, until 24th June 2022.

They are calling the pledge “Catherine Gokcen Wine” as this was her favourite drink she would enjoy at Cafe Bar N’Ista.

For every £1.50 you pledge Ian & Sally will match it. In memory of Catherine and her favourite tipple.

After getting the all clear from cancer in 2020, Catherine was diagnosed with secondary stage 4 metastatic cancer in June 2021. After operations and three different chemotherapies and radiotherapy in some areas, her cancer was incurable. In April 2022 Catherine started a new life extending treatment.

Very sadly Catherine passed away on 3rd June 2022 at home surrounded by her close family. She will be greatly missed by many. Not least by her husband and children.

On the weekend of Catherines birthday, 8th October 2022: Neil, Eve, Tom, Lisa, Sarah, Will, Matt, Steve and Ryyan are doing their first ever skydive, all self funded. The 9 participants will be jumping 15,000 feet out of an aeroplane.

They aim to raise £50,000 a sum which is really significant to continue funding the Lark’s invaluable contribution to the women who suffer with cancer.

Over the last 6 years, Catherine and over 200 ladies have walked through Larks’ doors. With 2 members of staff and a army of volunteers, every Monday & Tuesday, there is a counsellor, a beauty therapist, at least 2 holistic therapists and a retired breast nurse plus a never ending supply of the and coffee and a friendly face to welcome every woman.

Larks held a special place in Catherines heart and played a massive part of her experience with cancer: “The people there are some of the best you’ll ever meet. Their bond and the atmosphere are just incredible”
